Digital Assets
Learn about the digital asset component to the ecosystem
Digital assets, both fungible and non-fungible, are the lifeblood of our ecosystem, adding dynamism, ownership and engagement to the experience.
Fungible assets are interchangeable and identical in value. $NEON, our key fungible asset, is required to actively participate within the Neon ecosystem. But it's not just about $NEON. Other fungible assets, such as in-game resources or specific in-game currency, will also exist. Developers can even create their own tokens for their micro-ecosystem within Neon. Think of fungible tokens as the common currency, easily exchanged for goods or services.
Non-fungible assets are unique and cannot be exchanged on a one-to-one basis. These assets can represent unique in-game item collections that are owned by players and tradable. This not only provides value to the community but also generates additional revenue for the developer through royalties. Imagine owning a rare, one-of-one skin for a game, a verifiable unique value that cannot be replaced.
In the Neon ecosystem, we leverage the capabilities of both fungible and non-fungible tokens to provide a more dynamic and engaging gaming experience. Not all elements of the game economy need to be on-chain, but the ones that are add an element of scarcity, value, and excitement to the game.
